Plan by Trip Type

A winter getaway for a group in Scottsdale.

Winter is Scottsdale’s high season. Days are warm, the courses are in their best shape, and the trails are at their most comfortable. For a group of friends or family who want sun and a break from the cold, it is one of the easiest trips to plan. Here is how we would do it.

Choosing the right weeks

January and February are the busiest months, and February brings the Phoenix Open. March is often the best month overall, with warm days and Spring Training games. If the group wants lower prices with good weather, look at late November or the first half of December. The best time to visit Scottsdale guide compares the seasons.

Golf, hiking and the pool

Winter is the best time for a real round of golf and a morning hike. Ask for the pool and spa to be heated for the afternoons, and the golf simulator and pickleball court for the days the group wants to stay in. For courses and booking tips, see the golf course guide. For trails, see hiking near North Scottsdale.

Keep it relaxed

  • •One shared plan per day: agree on the morning activity the night before, and leave the afternoons open.
  • •Cook one meal together: a shared breakfast or a dinner at the house gives the group time together without a full plan.
  • •Respect the house: quiet hours apply, and events and parties are not permitted at the house. A relaxed group trip fits best.

Where to sleep and eat

A whole house keeps the group together. Paradise Reserve sleeps up to 16 guests across six bedrooms, with a dining room for group meals. For dinner out, see the restaurant guide and book early in winter, since the best tables fill quickly.
