TPC Scottsdale

The Marquee Round

TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course, designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, is home to the PGA TOUR's Waste Management Phoenix Open and the legendary par-3 16th — the loudest hole in golf. The Champions Course, redesigned by Randy Heckenkemper, offers a quieter but equally scenic round through natural desert terrain. Both are open to the public. Troon North Golf Club

The Benchmark Round

Widely considered the standard against which other Scottsdale desert courses are measured. Troon North's Monument and Pinnacle Courses, both Tom Weiskopf designs, wind through the foothills of Pinnacle Peak, weaving between massive granite boulders and natural desert wash. The par-5 3rd on the Monument Course — nicknamed "The Monument" for the boulder sitting squarely in the fairway — is one of the most photographed holes in Arizona golf. Semi-private, with public tee times available.

Grayhawk Golf Club

Two Championship Courses, One Legendary 19th Hole

Grayhawk's Raptor Course (Tom Fazio) and Talon Course both deliver championship-level desert golf with sweeping McDowell Mountain views — the Raptor Course has hosted the NCAA Division I Championships and the PGA TOUR's Frys.com Open. After your round, Phil's Grill on the patio overlooking the Raptor's finishing holes is one of the better 19th holes in Scottsdale. Semi-private, with public tee times available.

A Rees Jones design that delivers a genuinely strong North Scottsdale round without the premium pricing of Troon North or Grayhawk. Smaller greens put a premium on iron accuracy, and it's often the best backup option with same-day availability when the bigger-name courses are booked solid during peak season.

The Desert-Immersion Round

A short drive northeast of Scottsdale, We-Ko-Pa's Cholla and Saguaro Courses are set on Yavapai land with no houses lining the fairways — just open desert, native wildlife, and two highly ranked public layouts (Saguaro was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw). Worth the extra drive time for golfers who want the fullest desert-golf experience.

Planning Your Golf Trip

• •Peak season is January–April. Reserve tee times 30–60 days out for weekend rounds at the premium courses, especially TPC, which sells out weeks in advance during February.
• •Twilight rates (typically after 12–1 PM) drop 30–50% at most North Scottsdale courses — a good way to fit in an extra round without the peak-morning price tag.
• •Shoulder season (November and May) offers the best combination of comfortable weather and easier tee time availability if your trip dates are flexible.
