The best time to golf in Scottsdale.

You can play golf in Scottsdale in any month. What you get for your money is another story. A February tee time and an August one are different trips: different heat, different prices, and in the fall some courses are not even open. This is how we would plan it.

Peak season vs summer: what you pay

Scottsdale green fees move with the thermometer. Many courses, including Troon North, use dynamic pricing that rises and falls with demand, so the same round can cost very different amounts in February and August.

Experience Scottsdale, the city’s official tourism office, gives two examples in its 2026 golf value guide: We-Ko-Pa ranges from about $309 in peak season to $109 from mid-June through late August, and Grayhawk’s Raptor course can drop to around $102 in August compared with more than $350 in prime time. Its shoulder seasons are Labor Day to Thanksgiving and April to early June.

Prices change constantly. Always check the course’s own booking page for the rate on your date.

Overseeding: the fall closure most visitors miss

Every fall, Arizona courses overseed: they plant cool-season winter grass over the summer Bermuda grass so the fairways stay green through winter. The University of Arizona Extension notes that October, with days around 80 to 85°F and cool nights, is the ideal window. Each course closes for roughly two to three weeks while the new grass takes.

  • •Troon North (2026): Pinnacle course closed September 20 to October 8; Monument course closed October 4 to October 24.
  • •Grayhawk (2026): Talon closed September 28 to October 11; Raptor closed October 12 to October 29.

Courses stagger their closures, so there is almost always somewhere good to play. But if your group has one dream course in mind, check its overseeding dates before you book flights. Our golf course guide covers the main courses near North Scottsdale.

Phoenix Open week: plan around TPC Scottsdale

The 2027 WM Phoenix Open runs February 8 to 14 at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course. The tournament brings huge crowds and the highest prices of the year to the area. The Stadium Course is taken over by the event that week, and grandstands go up months before and stay for several weeks after, so check tee-time availability early if you want to play it. If your group wants to play TPC, go before or after. If you want to watch, see our Phoenix Open packages guide.

Our picks by trip type

  • •Best weather, money no object: mid-March to mid-April.
  • •Best value with good conditions: the first half of November, after courses reopen from overseeding, or early April.
  • •Lowest prices: June through August, with dawn tee times and the afternoon by the pool.
  • •Golf plus a big event: February for the Phoenix Open, or March for Spring Training. See Spring Training in Scottsdale.

Wherever you play, the round does not have to end at the 18th. Paradise Reserve has its own golf simulator and lit putting green, so the group can keep the competition going after dinner.
