Scottsdale or Tucson? A group trip comparison.

Scottsdale and Tucson are Arizona’s two big desert getaways, about two hours apart by car. Both have golf, mountains and winter sun. They feel quite different, though, and the weather is not the same either. Here is how they compare for a group.

Which one to choose

  • •Choose Scottsdale if: the group flies in from several cities, wants an event or a golf-heavy week, or wants a large private house. See the Scottsdale events calendar for 2027.
  • •Choose Tucson if: the trip is about hiking, national parks and cooler evenings at a slower pace.
  • •Or do both: base in Scottsdale and make Tucson a long day trip, about two hours each way (estimate).

Paradise Reserve has six bedrooms for up to 16 guests, five of them king suites with their own bathroom, plus a pool and spa, a golf simulator, a putting green and a pickleball court. Events and parties are not permitted at the house, and quiet hours apply. For other comparisons, see Sedona or Scottsdale and Scottsdale or Palm Springs.
