Day Trips

Tonto Natural Bridge, a day trip north of Payson.

Tonto Natural Bridge is a huge stone arch over a creek in a pine-covered canyon near Payson. Arizona State Parks says it is believed to be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world. It makes a cooler, greener day out than the desert around Scottsdale.
