Plan by Trip Type

A four-day Scottsdale family vacation plan.

Families planning a Scottsdale trip often ask the same question: how do we fit in everything without burning out the kids, or the grandparents? The answer is a rhythm. Early starts outdoors, slower afternoons, and an easy evening. This four-day plan follows that rhythm.

Plan for the heat

From June through September, afternoons regularly pass 100°F. Shift the active plans to early morning and after sunset, and keep the middle of the day indoors. Keep water and sun hats in the car, and check on children and older relatives more often than you think you need to.

For mixed ages

Give every age group one thing they chose. A grandparent picks the restaurant, a teenager picks the hike, and a younger child picks the pool time. Mixed families usually get along better when each person has a say in one part of the plan.
