Plan by Trip Type

A private pool house for a group in Scottsdale.

A pool is the center of most group stays in Scottsdale, but not every pool is private. A shared community pool is a different trip from a pool that belongs to the house, with its own spa, its own schedule and nobody else around. Here is what to check when a group of eight to sixteen is choosing.

Back to the estate

Private pool vs shared community pool

A shared pool is open to everyone in the building or the neighborhood. A private pool is for your group only, which matters when you have children, mixed ages, or a multi-generation group that needs room to relax. Ask the host whether the pool is private for the whole stay.

At Paradise Reserve the pool is part of the estate, along with a spa and a waterfall feature, so the group does not share it with other guests.

What to check before you book

  • •Pool depth and fencing: Ask about the depth at each end, and whether the pool has a fence or gate. This matters with young children or guests who cannot swim.
  • •Spa and heating: Ask whether the spa and pool are heated, and when. Heated water is useful in the cooler months from November to March.
  • •Shade: Ask where the shade is at midday. Older guests and young children need somewhere to sit out of the sun.
  • •Pool hours: Confirm the hours, and remember that quiet hours apply at the house.

Sleeping sixteen, with room to split

Paradise Reserve sleeps up to 16 guests across six bedrooms. The master suite has a king bed, an en-suite bathroom and a private patio. Bedrooms two to four each have a king bed and their own bathroom. The casita has a king bed with its own bathroom, and the casita bunk room has two queen beds and two bunk beds, sharing the casita bathroom.

For a multi-generation group, put the grandparents in the master suite and the teenagers in the casita bunk room, so each group has its own space at the pool.

A summer schedule for the pool

From June through September, afternoons regularly pass 100°F. Plan the swimming for early morning and the hour after sunset. Keep the middle of the day for indoor time, the spa, or a round on the simulator. See our family reunion guide for a day-by-day plan for three generations.
